Browsers

You must have a fairly modern browser (one from this millenium) to use this site and the freely available Flash plugin. Most modern browsers are so equipped anyway. Some non-current browsers do not display some of the Greek and other characters properly. Please use the most up-to-date versions of browsers wherever possible.

Here is the status of various browsers when used for displaying The Orbitron

  • Mozilla 0.9.9: OK
  • NetScape 6.2.1: OK
  • NetScape 4.7.6 (Classic): OK - but does not display the equations properly (fails with Greek letters pi, rho, psi, the times sign, and square root sign
  • iCab 2.7.1: OK - but layout problems with nested sub/superscripts
  • Opera 5.0 b4: OK - but does not display the equations properly (fails with Greek letters pi, rho, psi, the times sign, and square root sign. Also layout problems with nested sub/superscripts
  • OmniWeb: not good - problems with Flash
• Windows NT
  • InterNet Explorer 6: OK
  • InterNet Explorer 5.5: OK
  • InterNet Explorer 5.0: OK
  • Mozilla 0.9.9: OK
  • Netscape 6: odd bug which causes Orbitron pages containing Flash to be very, very, very wide, almost unusable
  • NetScape 4.7.6: OK- but does not display the equations properly (fails with Greek letters pi, rho, psi, and square root sign
  • Opera 5.0 b4: OK - but does not display the equations properly (fails with Greek letters pi, rho, psi, the times sign, and square root sign. Also layout problems with nested sub/superscripts
