Atomic orbitals: 5g electron densityThis page addresses the 5gzx3 and 5gzy3 electron density functions. They are identical in appearance and differ only in direction. See below for links to images of the electron densities of the other 5g orbitals. "Dot-density" plot of the 5gzx3 electron density function ψ5gzx32. Blue represents negative values for the wave function and red represents positive values. This page displays the electron density of the 5gzx3 orbital as a "dot-density" diagram. High density of dots in a region denotes high electron density. Using JmolYou can use your mouse to manipulate the "orbital" in the "Jmol" image above.
