Notes

It is square antiprismatic at Pu with the UF4 structure. Pale brown (brown-pink) solid. The hydrate precipitates from aqueous solutions, which is a pink brown (yellow) solid. This compounds hydrate is also soluble in water.

Synthesis

The hydrate dehydrates to PuF4 in a stream of HF at 350 degrees.

Reactions

Soluble in water. Above 400 degress it reacts with moist air to form PuO2. It is reduced by H2 at 225 degrees to PuF3.
